Quick question people, a friend of local Mopar club is selling me a Dana 44 differential, the one the V8 Duster (318/360) used in this country (Mexico), but it will be a overkill or will help in a stock Slant 6 3/speed (soon 4 speed)?

I dont think the Dana 44 is overkill.....its actually a nice size. Lots of gear sets are available.....although they are a little complex to install.

It will only help (or hurt) your car if the gear ratio differs from your current one.

The best way to be sure of what gears you have is to count the teeth on the ring gear (lets say 30) and divide them by the number of teeth on the pinion (lets say 10) and you get a ratio of 3.00 .

The Dana 44 has a crush sleeve for getting the pinion depth and backlash correct...that can be tricky for a beginner.

Make sure if you buy gears for a 44 that you get regular rotation gears...not reverse rotation for a 4x4 front .
