My Holley 390 4160 accelerator linkage hangs up going back to idle, from cruise. It holds the idle to 1100 RPM. I can get it to drop down to low idle (850 RPM) if I blip the throttle. I have a 3/4" 4 hole plastic spacer on an Offenhauser manifold. I saw mentioned somewhere that the spacer might be catching the throttle plates. If this is the problem, how do I fix this?

try to find the problem first, just disconnect the cable and move the throttle by hand if it sticks then it might be your spacer if it does`nt then it`s in your paddle or cable.spacer can be clearenced with a die grinder if you find were it is making contact.

Remove the air cleaner and look down its throat, you should be able to see the plates. Make sure your return spring is intact.

A couple other things to check are making sure the throttle lever clears your air cleaner (some aftermarket bases are a bit low for some holley carbs, and need a 1/2" spacer to keep them off the lever), also make sure your springs are in good order they should allow the lever it's full range, but have enough tension to pull the plates back to their 'seated' position...

Good Luck,
