Okay well the slant is rebuilt installed and damn it! an oil leak. Looks to be the rear main seal. Can you tell me the symptoms...I assume I'm already screwed but perhaps there is some hope...Are there any ways to install a new one without pulling the entire engine out. I dont see how I could get the pan out of the way...Thanks.

Are you sure it's the main? If the rear galley plug were left out or not tightened, it could cause quite a leak on the rear of the engine. By the way, the front galley plug doesn't cause a leak, but lets the oil bypass the head. Very hard on the valvetrain. Don't ask how I know....

The pan can be removed by removing the front motor mount bolts, dropping the idler and pitman arms, then jacking the engine up with a bottle jack under the damper.
