i found a few terminals busted off from my dash so i soldered them back on i hope this holds ... anyone have a better idea |

That's what I had to do when I pulled my cluster. Some of the copper was curled up so I had to solder a wire to connect to the other side. I did that while I was updating the cluster regulator. I still don't know if it works yet because I am still in the process of replacing wiring that was fried from the PO. But I don't mind it, I'm sure like the rest of us, its an enjoyable hobby. Anyways, it should work fine. Nice job! |

I had to solder pins on the cluster of my Dodge class C motor home. Gas gauge, temp all worked after that. I have a spare instrument cluster from a Duster I'll never use if you want it. |

Not a better idea just different.Had the same problem on one of my project vans,only when I carefully removed the connector ALL the pins came off,errr.What to do,whoa is me,umm.Have a donner van that a big ole cedar tree center punched,but the dash was good,just newer and not a direct swap out.Rainy day,carefully pried the backs up on pins and removed,sweged them a bit and pushed into project dash pod,rebent the backs and added a dab of JBweld to sturdy them up abit.TaDa works just ducky Like I said,not better just another way,besides my solderin iron is as big as a pry bar,figured I'd melt the pod to a blob doing it like you did. |

........or I could make you a new one thats a good idea though, to solder the connection back. I have never been very good at soldering. maybe I just never had a decent gun, all of the ones I ever had were the size of my thumb. did you just scrape off any excess if you spilled? I tried that once on a board for something and did a ton of damage. |

That looks like a pretty good repair, I had the same problem on my old '69 Valiant Just be really careful when you hook the bulkhead back up since the pins may have shifted a little. |

i might be into a custom cluster with fuel - temp and spedo only p/m me about it and your prices.did you just scrape off any excess if you spilled? I tried that once on a board for something and did a ton of damage. i didn't spill any solder - 15yrs as an electronics tech gets you pretty good @ soldering. i just preped the area with some acid flux and used a weller 15W gun. then used locking forcepts to hold the pins in place during soldering.and since i have had my dash out like 10+ times this week i re-soldered the pins and cleaned up the solder. |
