I have a 81 D150 ,I got it from my grandpa when he died .It only has 75,000 miles on it ,and it ran ok, you had to pump the crap out of the gas to get it started , and stay with it for a while when you first start it up to keep it running. I hate to say I neglected it for a long time never really used it .After my 86 camaro was totalled by a red light runner , I decided to resurrect the ol' Dodge . It had a small exhaust manifold leak,so I took of all of that, and about a year later ( I have little time to work on it) and alot of searching on this board , and a lot of help by you guys , I was of a week from work put everything back on. I rebuilt the carb ,put on all new ignition parts (it had Filco plug wires on it , how old are they) new fuel pump ,and a couple of other stuff. I hooked up the battery . it took a while to get the gas back up to the carb , but after the first time it knocked off ( which is because not enough gas in it yet) the second time was the charm .I cranked and it actually stayed running by itself , and that is a great feeling . I still have a lot of more things to do to it .I know this is long , I just wanted to share that another /6 has been revived ,and thanks for all of your help |
