Looking for info on adapters (handmade or otherwise) to adapt a powerglide to the slant 6. Anyone here done this? I've adapted powerglides to V-8 Mopars, but never the Slant 6. Thanks for any response!

Thanks Pierre,

These things have always seemed overpriced to me, but that looks like a good one. I might consider making the adapter plate myself and buying the felxplate and spacer.

just out of curiousity why are you going to a powerglide? in my experience mismatched brands are a recipe for a lot of extra work and hardship. a guy at the local oval track put a 3 speed saginaw behind a 360 with a store bought adapter and he could never get it right

Board members Team Green built their own adapters to put a Glide in their car. It slowed them down quite a bit compared to a 904. They ended up with a T-350 in the car before they put in the 5 speed. IIRC they felt that a Slant just didn't have the grunt to make a Glide work, and they had a fairly light car.

I would spend the money to rollerize the 904 long before I'd put a different 3-speed auto behind a slant let alone a 2-speed.

They did the Glide to get weight out of the car. The did the T-350 because they had the GM adapters for the Glide.

The guys on Team Green were a great bunch of innovator/fabricators. :D

I was thinking about the powerglide I've used behind BB mopars in the past. It really cut the weight down, and did not have the one way roller clutch and powder drum that can cause serious trouble unless modified or replaced (not cheap).

I have rebuilt many 727's, and am not opposed to building a 904, although I've never built one and can't find much on 904 mods (other then the fact that much of the 727 mods can be used on the 904).

So who here can suggest a source of build tips for the 904, and is the 904 that comes behind slant 6's a worthy candidate?

Thanks

Who did the 'glide? The TH350?

How much less than a 904 does a PG weigh?
