I found this brake booster and master cylinder on eBay that was reportedly on a '74 A-body of some kind. I have a '64 Dodge Dart with a single reservoir master that I'd like to upgrade. Will this work for my car? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0180822401 I'm assuming the master cylinder will have to be rebuilt, if I use it at all. |

I have one of these that is brand new for $100. It is as shown minus the master cylinder. http://www.mpbrakes.com/products/produc ... uct_id=140 |

I see. Can that booster be used with the stock dual-reservoir master cylinder? I don't know much about power brakes. I did notice that Autozone has two different part numbers for the master cylinder with and without power brakes. Can someone explain what the difference is? You'll have to pardon my ignorance; I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I buy anything. |

It should be a direct bolt in. Note that the later unit, particularly with the dual master cylinder, is much longer than the original. Unless you attach it using the braces that were part of the original package, the firewall will flex whenever you step on the brake pedal, which will eventually cause a failure of the firewall sheet metal (a crack). Been there, done that. The brake booster will not shorten your stopping distances; it just makes it easier to push the pedal. If you search this site, you'll see that a properly set up manual system is not difficult to use at all. I'd avoid the booster unless there is a compelling need. --Walt Jackson |

Yes the MP booster is still for sale. I'll list it in the parts for sale section. |
