I've rebuilt and modified a number of 727's successfully, but have never touched a 904. I assume that many mods are the same between the two, but wouldn't want to make mistakes. Is there a web page on this somewhere, or information in some archieve? Thanks! ________ buy silver surfer vaporizer |

I think most guys put V8 internals in and manual valve body. Mine is that way with improved shift pressure for a snappy shift. Sprag s could be a problem but havent heard of any with the slant 6. Hope this helps Frank |

Here's great source for the 727 by Carl Monroe. It has some 904 info in it and most tips, tricks and mods shown are applicable to the 904. He started on a 904 book like the one he did for the 727, but has put it on hold. I hope it gets finnished. http://victorylibrary.com/graphics/TF-CM.jpg One problem the 904 has compared to the 727 was the number of variations that were made and parts interchangeability. Here's a link to some good 904 info over at Moparts. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/sho ... ost2674350 |

Thanks for that webpage Slant Cecil. I must have missed that one somehow. I have built a number of 727's and have the Carl Monroe book. He doesn't really cover the 904 in it. Last I heard from him, he does plan to finish the 904 book but doesn't know when. Yea, most of the 727 stuff can be used in the 904, but there are some differences, like the strength of the aluminum splines in the front planetary. and the converter hub. Just stuff I don't want to make any mistakes with. ________ List of engines |
