Post subject:  My 65 Valiant Wagon

Here is my wagon. This is the car I need the 6 cyl 4 speed bell housing for. This car has to be my favorite car out of all the cars I've owned .It always puts a smile on my face when I'm behind the wheel no matter how much of a rat it is!

Right now it's an automatic with a 225 up front but when the 4 speed goes in so is the cherry 170 I have.I like the 170's better. When you get them set upright and get a larger exhaust pipe on them they wind right up and go.That short stroke is really cool on the hi way. It revs fast.

That's great.

The '65 V100 wagon I had was my favorite Mopar of all. I bought it for $250 in the Spring of 1974 with 103,000 miles on the odo. It was a white with blue interior, 3 speed manual car with the 170 Slant 6 and an AM radio. The transmission would pop out of gear under load so I bought a new one from a downtown Atlanta transmission shop and installed it and a new clutch in my driveway.

That held me for a few months until the low oil pressure light would come on at idle even with fresh 20W-40 in the crankcase. So I bought a re-man 225 short block from Warshawski and Co. for a couple hundred bucks, had the head redone by the local NAPA machine shop and never looked back. I drove it another 85,000 miles with no mechanical problems other than an alternator or two and a broken distributor gear. Over time I slowly upgraded parts of the car like shocks, good tires, some sweet Volvo bucket seats and of course Formula S Barracuda wheel covers, steering wheel and grill assembly. Oh and an AM-FM cassette player too. I finally gave it away to a friend of the family when I inherited my Dad's '66 V200 wagon.

What a car! Have fun.

Sadly no. I sold it to buy my second Barracuda in 1992 and that one went away in 2005 along with a lot of the parts that were originally on the wagons. The '65 wagon was still the best so I'm really envious.

They're out there.Every now & then one comes up on ebay and when one comes up usually 2 or 3 more do to. If you really want one now's the time 'cause they are getting rare.

We saw this on the side of a house ,knocked on the door and bought it for 300 bucks.Sure it's rusty but in one week we had it up and inservice with all new beake lines, hoses, dual chamber master and so on. It started right up after 20 years of sitting next to this house. This was 2 years ago he uses it every day to work out of .He's a handy man and this little car serves him well. They don't have to be pretty to be fun!
