The Hemi 6 can make more power, how much I dont know. It is a very good designed engine really, and has a head that can be made to flow very good. The head is really where it gets its better power. There is even a Aluminum race head that can be bought for this engine. They are a longer engine in lenth and I dont know how well they will fit our USA cars. If your looking for some kinda upgrade for your ole MOPAR & the Hemi 6 is catching your eye, I would look into a Jeep 4.0 setup. It should be about the same lenth, and there is already alot of them around so they would be cheap. Plus you can have fuel injection & over drive trannies to go right along with them. I dont know that the Jeep engine would fit, but it is still Mopar & should fit just as easy as a Hemi 6. The Jeep motor also has a alimunim race head available for it, plus many other HotRod goodies. Ofcourse nothing can top having a engine with a name like Hemi & to have one in a Mopar would be cool. You could get with some of the guys from across the pond to get some measurments to see if the Hemi might even fit our cars. Jess |

Those engines were far more developed, from the Aussie factory, than the Slants. Tilley says his Slants have outrun all the "hemi" 6s he's encountered on the roadcourses down there. However, he acquired a hemi 6 road racecar and is looking into engine mods to see how far he can go with one. The biggest version has more displacement (265 ci vs. 225 ci stock). Seems like 400 HP should be very doable naturally aspirated. Lou |

From what I have read I understand that most of the 3 X weber design and tuning was done at weber in Italy A 265 was sent over and spend some time in Bologna The saddest thing happened over here in RSA some twat that will remain unnamed has got hold of a e38 charger - threw out the 265 and turned it into a 440 powered drag car - I saved the rims and are having them restored - he wanted to widen them - they are already 6 1/2 J........ Maybe one day I can get the charger out of him and restore it to its former glory It would have been a sweet addition to my valiant collection |

For comparison in length...here is one of my spare Hemi heads along side a slant head.. it is about a "foot" longer ![]() The engine bays in the VF-onwards Valiants are about 3 and a half inches longer to make room for the hemi over the slant. Here is a chamber pic of mine...not a true hemi you can see, more of a canted valve setup. ![]() Stock valves are 1.96/1.60 for the 265 and slightly smaller intake for the 245. I have 2.00 and 1.60 for this head. The bottom ends will take just about anything, heads flow great with some porting (or the mentioned alloy head as well) the oil pump drive gear is the place that tends to take a beating with cam float (with big springs) , but some way to help that. And like alot of stuff, they respond nicely to forced induction ! I hear most of the blocks are good to about 30 - 35 psi before you have to start sonic checking to find thicker walled blocks to start with. |
