Post subject:  Strip/Street '68 Signet

'68 Signet originally bought in Aug 03 to be a 100% strip only car. Decided later to keep a tag on it for 20%/80% street/strip use.

Starting off as a well worn Signet with 140K miles. 225, 904, PS, AC, radio, dented trunk lid and LF fender, rust in front floors-quarters-rear window-various small spots, ratty interior.

Improvements so far, well maybe not improvements but changes;
new front end bushings
new brake shoes
new front drums
new brake hoses
new aluminum MC and AFE adapter
wheel cylinders rebuilt
good used 185x75x13 tires
SunPro tach, oil, water gages
Hurst Quarter Stick
TA Cheeta valve body
MP 6x1 header, 3" exh with cheap straight thru muffler
BBD
MP chrome box, Blaster II coil, 14* initial-16*mechanical-in by 2000rpm
Change PS to MS
Remove AC
Remove wiper assembly
Remove heater box
Remove radio
Remove damaged door panels
Remove rotten carpet
Remove front & rear bench seats, replace with-
Two lightweight plastic racing seats

So, off to the track last nite to see what it will run.
Put it on the scales, 2680lb, too bad the driver adds 295 more :shock: !
Shifting at 4000rpm 17.77@77
Shifting at 4400rpm 17.44@78

Plan is to upgrade rear axle and wheels before work starts on reinstalling some home made door panels, carpet and reparing rust for a roller type paint job.
Upgrades will be;
A body 8.75, spool, axles, 4.30 gear
14x4.5 front steel wheels
15x7 rear steel wheels
tires, whatever fits
Hope to have these improvements done by May for the Slant Six Race in Valdosta GA.
