i got a recently rebuilt carter that's confusing me. The car won't idle unless the EGR venturi tap is uncapped. Also when ya remove the vacuum advance it stalls out and dies. I thought it should still run without the advance? Any ideas whats going on with it guys?

it sucks air at idle on a venturi vac port? where can air be bypassed? and enough to kill it. you have checked timming eh?

don;t know if it's sucking air at idle from the venturi port. Only that it won't idle down at all with it capped. timing should be at 2BTDC from where i set the dist less than a week ago.
