Will the head from a hydralic lifter slant 6 work on a mechanical lifter engine? are there any modifications required?

Everything will swap over.
You will have to use the later valve cover and use the rocker arms and push rods form the early engine. (machanical lifter set-up)

Yep, good price. You will, as Doc says, need an '81 or later valve cover, and you'll need up-to-'80 solid-lifter rocker shaft and arms and pushrods.

i just found out that the work on this head was done 10 or so years ago and it has been setting in this guys shop all that time. it is dirty and dusty. do you suppose it would still be good? i can clean it up i think but would the seals and such still be ok?
thanks dean

I would still think you would come out ok (price wise) at worst case you might have to replaced the seals, but they will probally be ok.

Thanks Frank
i think i am going to go ahead and get this. as long as i keep my old slants i am sure to find a use for it sometime. My 87 1/2 ton is using oil and i have a few things to try per Dan's and others recommendations on this board but eventually it will need a new head.
