Hey Frank,

Sandy has a lady that re-stitches his harnesses. He could probably give you an idea of the cost. Are you planning on doing anything with the RCI harnesses in the Duster for Cinda? I can cover that one. Just let me know how much.

Its the RCI's out of the Duster. We talked about me keeping these and buying you new when you come back....I didnt know if they must be recertified or not ( they look brand new ) I know in Memphis and St Louis they didnt look at the label but you never know. I would hate to pull to GA or NC and not be able to race. Ill get ahold of Sandy and see if she retags or what.
On another note Cinda and I are going to try and buy out Norm at the end of the season.
Thanks
Frank

I cant recert anything....nor do I want to,,,,or need to.

It occured to me a number of years ago that having my sewing ladies redo my harnesses was way safer than whoever stitches RCI belts....

I buy new higher quality belting and reuse hardware. My bogger harness is a redone Simpson . I even get to pick the belt colour....My hardware is ancient Simpson ( think 70s circle track) I used 3" OEM style seat belting. This is considerably more expensive than the crap from RCI or cheap Simpson.

We sewed up a harness for a local bogger....some kids with a fast yet cheep machine. Ron Parker sent the old harness....we added new belting and I installed it in their car.....their moms think Im cool.

Keep in mind the sewing person here is trained on helicopter rescue harness techniques....

With the right thread and machine any competent sewer can duplicate the sewing patterns used. (thats right....yer Mom) You must heat cut the belting.

Our race tech (mudbogging ....NWMRA.com ) doesn t care about cert dates...they inspect belt condition. My rebop harnesses get zero attention.

Just thinking out loud here....but if it doesnt have a date of expiration and is in good condition, and exceeds NHRA specs...well????

Yea down here in the South you dont want to leave them in as they will fade in a couple of weeks. I do need to find a SAFE way to do a quick release system to attach them. It a pain to fish them every week. I guess it would be better to get a car cover and hope that would work.
Im still surprised there is no recert. program. I know our boots and harnesses in the electrical field were sent out.
I guess its all just food for thought.

ISO9001.........

(wouldn't be any safer (probably worse), but it's certified)

I think for our typical Slant 6 race car like the Duster the tech guys wouldn't get too critical about the harnesses. They are basically brand new. But you sure don't want to get caught in not passing tech after a long tow like that. I've been there a couple times. Also, each tech guy seems to interpret the rule a little differently and they all have their own pet peaves, etc.

   Boy! You're just jumpin' right in there aren't you!? ...and the forlorn blue Duster gets forgotten again...

When I saw Norm's post I got kinda excited too, but I won't be back until 2010, so that leaves me out.

Definitely keep me posted on what direction you guys decide to go with things...

Actully the Quail Duster wont get forgotten. We NEED to have 2 cars running all season so we can both race. ( niether one of us likes to see the other one sit out) The cuda isnt ready and probally wont be til 09 or late 08. Then the Dusters need engine swaps and face lift for the Quail Duster. Lets face it bueaty IS only skin deep...and it comes back out with TURBO, SG or spool and NEW GRAPHIX
SEE WE DO NEED IT
Thank
Frank :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

PS isnt the MADNESS great

Frank and Cinda,

Keep up the nuttiness! Hope we can meet at a race this year. I am hoping for St. Louis or a closer race to y'all.

Cheers,

Lou

Excellent. See you soon. I'll have to miss the Farmington race, unfortunately, but should make Wilkesboro, Bristol and others...
