Post subject:  Carb Choices: Offy 2X1 Intake

Would like opinions on which 1 bbl carbs to use with the Offy 2X1 Manifold. Plan to set this motor up with the Dutra split exhaust manifolds. Looking to end up with a streetable motor with some extra power over stock- not a fire breather for the drags. Carter BBS - Holley 1920 or ????

All advice and help appreciated!

Thanks,
Tom

Any of them will work, and I've known people to use all different types.

Main thing is getting two carbs that are exactly the same (same year, linkage, vac ports...) and synchronize their float levels, jet sizes, idle mixtures, carb linkage, and idle screws before starting up.

I have used 1920s and BBSs on my 2X1. The 1920s got best mileage and comparable or better power than the BBSs. I've seen a 1945 setup that worked well too.

You could also use a pair of Impco CA100M-4-2 (2-5/16" air horn) or CT-60M-1 (1.5" air horn) mixers on AT2-4-1 (1bbl with 2-15/16" center to center bolt spacing) throttle bodies. You could supply both from a single Model E or Model L converter and use a single VFF30-2 lockoff.

The CT60M-1 mixer is a bit cheaper than the CA100M-4-2 but has the same air flow rating (170 CFM @ 1.5"WC).

I see that someone on the HAMB put dual propane carbs on a 245 Studebaker. The carbs are bit different (next size larger) but you get the idea.
