Looking for some input on line lock location.Should it go to the front brakes, great for holding car at line and smokey burnout or better on the rear brakes, good at holding car and I think a harder launch? I'm thinking the rear.My car is pretty high powered but it doesn't have a trans brake and I'm looking for the best proformance.I have a 727 reverse valve body trans and high stall convertor, will be running slicks at the track :?: .What are your opinions.I only want to install it once.As always thanks for your input and help.

Line locks go in the front brake line, unless you have a front wheel drive car. They are intended for holding the non-drive wheels while warming the slicks.

Is there any harm in installing it in the rear line? I would think the line could be locked out before the brakes are applied. Then hold the car with the peddle. Slowly release and burn forward.
Huumm
I suppose if your running a stick car its better your way. unless you got three feet. :D

A lot of guys with lower HP cars do block the rear brakes off and control the burnout with the brake pedal.

I just spray on the burnout. No lineloc necessary then.

A 2 wheel lineloc will not do much as far as holding an automatic car on the line. It's just something else to goof up.

4 wheel line locks can be used as a poor mans trans brake.

Your racing with a single line brake system?

You guys need to remember that your brakes are the most important safety system you have. Keep it safe and simple. Please, I may be in the other lane!!!

I'm not using the line lock for a burnout,Like Slanzilla says a little spray.I think I'll have enough power to do a burn out to clean my tires.I just want to get the hardest launch possible.Safety is my #1 concern.I'm not building a POS and I certainly don't want to wreck it or anybody else.I was thinking that if I locked the rear tires I could get up past the stall on my convertor.I certainly don't want to run a 4000-4500 convertor because I want to drive it on the street more then just the track.Honestly I have built many race cars (roundy round)in the past but never a street /strip car so sometimes the questions seem dumb.I just want a Slant Six that'll hold it's own.Motor is in the final assembly stages and should be completed next week.I running out of time to complete this project in time for the Moars at the strip and I really want to try and race it.I'll watch for more input and this weekend I'll commit to which end gets the brake.I should have spent the other $1000.00 and had the trans built with a trans brake but I could see that shortening the life of the trans.andI don't know how many more of my allowances I'm willing to spend in this project.I have tripled my budget to get the best parts possible and spent almost 2 years in this driveline.I still want to install a quick change (very familer with them/love them) but I'm in sooooo far now.Just going to have to put together a 8 1/4 for Vegas. As always thanks for the input and keep it coming

A linloc on the rear will not hold any more than your foot on the brake pedal.

If you want higher stall on a footbrake car wire in a 2-step to the brake light switch. My red car will hold about 2500 against the brakes, but will hold 3600 on the 2 step and foot brake.

I agree that the only real use for the line loc is to do the burn-out, it is not helpful at the starting line.

If you have one to install, have it hold the front wheels and call it done.

With a little over 2 months untill MATS, it's time to get the car running and do some 'shake-out' passes.
Just my 2 cents...

I agree with Doc. Don't try to get too fancy and have your car laid up. Get the basics ready and get some seat time in it! Where do you race? Is it Speedworld? I used to race at Firebird and attended a couple Mopar races at Speedworld. Nice, easy going track.

OK it's going on the front wheels.I like Slantzillas idea of a two step hooked to the brake light switch.Just got back from the motor shop, rings are fitted, block fully cleaned, rods done and headgasket there. They'll begin final assembly next week.So close.Recieved my inigtion and radiator today.I posted so photos of the block and pistons on
www.flickr.com/photos/emptypockets Next week I'll put some of the cylinder head,It was still wrapped up from when I painted it.It's all milled, ported and CC'D.Waiting on the completed engine and trans to so up from 727 Specilities then I can start the final assembly and shake out the bugs.Raelly want to mat Mopars at the Strip and run this thing.I'm running out of time and money may need to call in a couple of favors from you slanters to make this happen,Keep you posted
