Post subject: | wilwood brake conversion |
I just bought some wilwood brakes (#140-2722) for my 68 valiant, It turns out they wont work with my 14" rally rims. Center hole clearance is too small and inner rim is also too small. I would like to keep a small bolt pattern but i'm not sure if there is gonging to be a rim with a center hole clearance of 3.16" or larger out there. I don't want to have 2 different kinds of rims with different bolt patterns Is there anyone running this setup on there car, if so what rims are you using? The clearance for these brakes are 3.16" or larger for center hole and a min of 6.46" from center to the inside of rim. Also if I change my rims and tires to 15 in, is anyone interested in buying 14 in rally rims? |

Welcome to the Board. Most people do the conversion to BBP which gives you LOTS of rim choices. To keep from carrying 2 spares they put a new rear under the car going to the BBP. As for staying with SBP your rim choices are VERY limited. You would probally be better off with the 15 inch rims. I would think you wouldnt have any problems selling you rims, just post in the for sale section. Hope this helps, Frank |

Frank, Would I be able to just change the axles or would I have to change the whole rear end? I was looking on ebay and I found mopar wheel adapters from 5 on 4" to 5 on 4.5". It looks like it might be about an Inch think or so. I guess I could use them on the rear if I had to. Still curious if anyone has this wilwood set up. Any idea what 14" rally rims are worth? |

American racing still makes 2 styles of rims for sbp. 15" ansens ($130 each, ouch) and i believe 14" inch outlaw II ($65.00) each. Any discount tire can order these or any competant tire shop. Just a couple of sbp options. |
