I was wondering with the 833OD and a 2:76 gear what RPM I would turn at 70mph? I am turning 3000 now with a 3 speed and 3:23's at 70. |

Making a nasty assumption that you went to say a 205/70R14 tire over the stocker narrow guys that combo would net you 1800 or so rpm at 70 mph...but this also depends on your carburation (I notice that the 1 barrel tends to wind the motor a bit higher to make the same power as say the same mill with a 2 or 4 barrel...)-D.idiot |

I think that is my tire size. Mounted on 6 1/2" x 14" chromey rusty reverse rims. |

running stock tires (aprox stock) 185\78-14 3.23 rear 1 to 1 3rd @ 65 I was running around 2700rpm OD 4th was around 2000rpm now with 3.55 installed 3rd is around 3000 OD 4th around 2400 this is appox since I have not changed the speedo pinion yet..... What I found was the 3.23 is too tall with the overdrive, 3.55 is just about right for normal driving with overdrive, tooth count on the over drive is 74, so with the OD 3.23 was like 2.49, way too tall for use unless your driving on the flat at over 70 all day, engine just has to work too hard to keep speed..... 3.55 is not the best set for the track, or some other uses, but it works really well with the OD trans and came often from the factory set up that way in cars with the OD trans...... 3.55 with the OD is around a 2.71..... a 2.76 with OD set would be a 2.02, way tall....... |
