The plan is to remove Eileen by the end of next summer and install the Gen3 5.7L Hemi. It should be arriving in about 5 days. I couldn't pass up this deal. It will be in storage untill all the parts have been collected (headers, engine mounts, FAST EFI Kit, ect.) in which time the project will begin.

I have appreciated all your help with the Slant and have learned alot. I will be checking in for time to time.
Thanks

P.S.
Eileen's short block is forsale($2500) at anytime before then. After the project begins, anypart is available regardless if the short block has sold.

You didn't always seem to be appreciated, but I enjoyed watching the build. Thanks for sticking around. Who's gonna buy this thing? It'd be fun to find out what happens next (unless somebody blows it up...)

later

You know that's a 392 hemi crate motor in the picture right? Why did you white out the price? Might we think you didn't really get a very good deal?

3k for a cmoplete new hemi is a smoking deal and I'm sure Brennan spent a lot more building eileen. I have a soft spot for slant sixes but I sure can understand why he quitted on his slant. I can't understand why after all the work and money and effort he threw on eileen he decides to go with his now. Well, yeah, I can understand: he got tired of blowing his wallet and getting modest results. No offense intended whatsoever, Bren.

That was a good deal! If I was older, or kinda my plan to, is to do a 5.7L stroker/ blown hemi. I can understand being frustrated and only getting moderate results. Sometimes though I have set myself up for it expecting too much out of going through my first muscle car, Sometimes though it's time to start over with a new project. Send me a pic when you get it done, will be interested.

One thing I like about this project is that it still has the "thats different" factor, although problably not for long. The best part is that this motor in stock form should push my car to the low 13s.

I am not sure really why I blanked out the price. I just thought I should for some reason. Maybe to avoid the "In your face" kind of thing. I was trying not to stir up to much. You guys are kind of like my internet family and wanted to share, even though its not a Slant6.

Nobody is going to buy a $2500 slant when they can buy a $3000 hemi!! And it might get better mileage too!

I didn't need to read that. I would want to buy one tomorrow. Got a workers comp settlement check in my pocket and a 74 Duster in the yard!

How much is a 4bbl intake for one of those?

I think not all of us are going to admit it, but that ad got us all thinking

there's no real business in building up a slant if that hemi is $3k. To make that power out of a slant you'd spend MUCH more than 3K and you wouldn't be even getting MPEFI

good luck bren

Well the engine is $3000 but it won't do you much good to simply have it under the hood and not have it run. :D
Add
Headers $735 (not many options here but there nice TTI's ceramic in and out plus polished) Plus dual exhaust. Also TTI $504?
Motor mounts. $130
FAST fuel and spark management. $3400
or Carburated with spark management $1800
Plus electric fuel pump for either one. $300ish
Electric fan if you don't already have one.
ECT ECT ECT.
Total is at least $8600 with the EFI and not much cheaper without.

My Slant6 may still look good to some.
:D

One thing to consider is that the value of my car will go up with the Hemi. I could put 10K more into the Slant and the value would stay the same.

I guess that 5.7 doesn't shut off 4 cylinders does it? Easy to drop 10K in a aluminum headed BB etc.

It would be worth buying that engine and setting it aside. Who knows if the pull a part will be getting those very soon? Those are easy to pull 5-600hp out of.

If its too good to be true....

Thought I remember reading that those crate motors should be taken apart and everything checked since factory machine work wasn't the best. That was a while back though...

I havn't heard that. This is not a "Crate" motor, even though it'll be coming in a crate. This is a production over run motor. This/These motors where slated for the Chrysler 300C and Charger R/Ts. Dosen't make much sence to me unless the 2009 cars are going to be different. Not sure if "crate" makes a difference, but I am not openning a new motor on a rumor.

My engine is a MDS motor. It will drop 4 cylinders if I choose to spend the time/money to activate it.
