I want to convert to disc brakes and also change the bolt pattern so I can put on bigger wheels on my 63 Dart GT . Can I swap complete set from any other Mopars without major modifications? Any suggestion on good mechanic/shop in S.F. Bay Area can assist with modifications. |

I am not familiar with the early A-bodies however these should bolt right in. 1973+ Plymouth Duster and/or 1973+ Dodge Dart / Dart Sport. You'll need the upper control arms, spindles, calipers, caliper brackets, dust shields, rotors, and pads. These are already 5 x 4.5-inch bolt pattern. For rear disk brakes I use 1994-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ) rear disks. *These will only work if you already have a large bolt pattern rear end.* You'll need the calipers, caliper brackets, dust shields, rotors, and pads. If you want the P-brake to function you'll also need the P-brake cables, P-brake shoes, & P-brake hardware. You will probably also need a small shim to keep the shoes from rubbing. |

Yes, that works on early A-bodies too. You can also use the spindles, caliper brackets, calipers, and rotors off a late '70s B or R body, which will give you 11.75" discs up front. You use these with the '73-'76 A body upper control arms and ball joints. The B/R body spindles are taller - you can use A-body spindles with the other B/R body parts if you want the stock spindle height. That's what I'm using, although I did this before anyone had worked out that the geometry with the taller spindles is also acceptable. |

If you have the 1973-1976 A-body disc brake spindles (everybody wants these since whey work for the other 'classic' bodies too..), then you can just add the caliper brackets, calipers, and rotors from the late B/R-bodies with the larger disc to get the better braking (they are heavier though), the down side the this is you'll have to use a 15" rim or bigger to clear the calipers properly...-D.Idiot |
