doug i'm considering running a ati front mount supercharger on a 225 slant. i was wondering if i used the highest compression 2.2 piston available with the 225 rods can you tell me what the compression would work out to be? of course with the supercharger i would'nt want alot of compression and i know the 2.2 piston would be alot stronger than the 225 pistons but it may not make enough compression being so far down in the cylinder. if you could do the math for me i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

You end-up a little over 6 to 1 compression based on a stock bore & stroke with the flat-top (1.605 comp. hight) piston.

thanks doug. so i could possibly cut the head and maybe deck the block enough to come up with a workable compression then maybe huh?

There is no question that this can be done. (It has been) I would suggest that you just spend the money on a set of custom pistons, shop around, (JE, Wiseco, Aries etc.) Tell them the pistons are for a blower motor and point them to a 2.2 piston design as a referance, they will do the rest.

Try to keep the block and head as thick and strong as you can get it. ( use some block filler??) Keeping the head gasket sealed will be the main issue, then at some point, con. rods will become an issue. (that's where it starts getting ugly, but that can be around 400 HP!)

Good luck and keep us posted if you go through with this idea, we need more "blown" SL6 cars out there! (and I don't mean "blown-up" SL6s either!)
