Time to spruce up the engine bay. What color were the battery trays and supports - body color, black, ... ?
Which paints hold up better there?

The only part of the underhood area that is black on a Mopar of this vintage is the front of the radiator support panel on some cars. Everything else (and the front of the rad support on many cars) is body colour. Black engine compartments are not correct on Mopars unless the body colour is black! This includes the battery tray.

That's what I thought, and planned to do any way. But the tray's original color wasn't obvious.
Painting the front of the radiator support black does, in my opinion, improve the looks of the '64 Valiant front end. And mine did have black paint there.
Thanks.
