Its a 71 duster on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DUSTER-S ... 0198447741

Its a nice looking car with a slant in it. They are asking $8500 I think its kinda high for the car with only the slant. I am asking if anyone has or knows any info on the car. And what you think about the price.

Somebody obviously put a lot of money into this car. They should've maybe gone a little further, for example by putting a 1970-'71 right front fender on it instead of the '72-up item they used, or at least by modifying the '72+ fender to incorporate the correct '70-'71 sidemarker light. I'm not too keen on the velour interior, but that was obviously a personal-taste matter and it looks like a high-quality, high-dollar job. Take a look under the hood, on the hood, and on the deck lid. Start adding-up some figures on a piece of scratch paper. Yes, it's a high price for those of us who are used to an A-body being a $2,000 or $3,000 car, but this car could very likely not be duplicated for the price being asked. And...

...we cannot have it both ways. Either a tricked-out 6-cylinder car is something special, or it isn't. "It's only a slant-6" is just not an applicable comment in a case like this.

If you buy the car and someday wish to sell it be prepared to have people tell you "Its only slant 6", no matter what you do to it.
I think it a little high on the price, but like Dan said, it would be hard to duplicate for that price.

I like it. A performance looking car that still gets good gas mileage. I could go for that. I personally wouldn't pay that much, but I'm sure someone will.

That listing is by Empire Chrys, Dodge, Jeep, in Wilkesborro, N.C. They sponsor the Slant Six race every year, at WRP.

I've seen that car in person and it is quite nice. Can't say how fast it is, but they put some time into it.

It all depends on your taste. Me personally, im turned off by the custom touches to the car. The velour interior, the door panels, steering wheel, the "Duster" dash cover, the "Twisted 6" decals on the side and the radio cut out for the deck are all things that I don't like. This guy did a really good job on fixing the car up his way and now he wants to sell it. The problem is when you fix a car up your way you have a warped view of how much it is worth. The other problem is that you have to find a buyer that likes the personal touches you made to the car. I'd say its worth about $5000 but it looks like he got someone to buy it for the full $8500.

It's kinda scary how expensive these things are getting. I'm used to A Body's being cheap $1500-$3000 cars. After looking at ebay and craigslist, its hard to find 2 door A Body's in that price range anymore unless they are total buckets. I wouldn't even pay $8500 if that car had a 360 in it. But thats just my personal taste.

That was the 'aim' behind the old 'Duster Twister' package... having a 340 looking car with nice decals and a 225 or 318 under the hood... (aka the 'sheep' in wolf's clothing...)

Oddly a 71 or 72 version with even the 225 under the hood still commands about $12,500+ if in nice garaged condition with very few dents... (yes, even only a slant-6 version...)...
