Okay i'm sure it's been asked but is there a kit out there to add power brakes to a car? What does it eman to have power brakes, and is it just a matter of having a bigger mastercylinder and a brake booster or is it more detailed than that?

Hi there,

I'm assuming that your '66 Barracuda is currently a non-power, 4 wheel drum setup, and you're looking to improve your stopping power.

The best route to better stopping power is to change the front brakes from drum to disc. There are a number of commercial packages to do that, such as this one:

http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/ssbc-conversion.aspx

You could also scrounge a junkyard (or eBay) for the appropriate parts and do the conversion using late model Valiant or Dart parts. A complete how-to on that is listed here:

http://www.bigblockdart.com/techpages/d ... sion.shtml

Many will tell you (and they are probably right) that you really don't need the power booster... it will simply add weight and clutter up your engine compartment. Standard, non-power, disc brakes will do everything you want in that Barracuda.
