I have an opportunity to aquire the drivetrain from a '74 Dart with a slant 6 to swap into my '46 Hudson Truck. Does anyone know the width of the Dart rear end? The Hudson rear end is 55 & 1/2" flange to flange (inboard surface of backing plate)

51.4", flange to flange.

I would expect that the Dart you are looking at has a 7.25" rear... most did. The 7.25 rear would not a good candidate for swapping into your truck. It is a very light duty application piece.
