Would a 4 barrel carb and intake be a good upgrade for horsepower to a 225? And have any of you added this?

A 4 barrel carb and manifold by themselves will give you very little increased performance.

The best money spent on initial performance upgrades.....tuneup.

Make sure your ignition and fuel supply are excellent....then set the valves and timing.

From there procede to optimized advance curve and carb tuning.

Then get a bigger carb/cam/compression etc.

Yes a million people have tried this with varying results.....

75plyduster,

Just putting a 4 barrel on won't do much. I have seen a few cars that had that done to them. Not very impressive in terms of performance!

If you put more in (fuel and air) you got to get more out (exhaust) to realize any benefit.

I have done what Sandy has suggested and then some. After you have done all the upgrades, then you will see some power.
