from the edge of the drip edge. Stainless. Any tricks? I tried a small piece by prying it open on the underside just a bit and it worked (small section).

Is there a better way?

I just put some tape on a bottle opener (the round end style) to protect from scratching the trim. I jsut start on one end and slowly start prying it off. Lift alittle at a time and it wont get bent out of shape.

I use CARS method but also slip a thin paint paddle between the trim and the bottle opener to spread the load a little bit.

Yes. Some of the "free" ones you get from your favorite brewery seem to work good too, even if they are plastic. You just may go through a few of them if they crack. But they are "free".
