Measured my 1971 225 for piston to deck height, it is .187 at TDC on both end pistons, the block has not been decked & it has stock flat top pistons, does this measurement seem correct? Appreciate any imput, thanks. Derek

yes , every block i have done were in the .180 ranges stock , what are your plans with this engine?

Thanks for the response Terry, I've read quite a few different dimensions & am just trying to confirm mine. With regards to my build, Mike Jefferys is doing the head & helping out with a cam, forged pistons,windage tray etc. What a great asset he is to the SL6 community. Were trying to increase compression to around 10 /1 or so. I would like to make as much power as possible without any power adders on pump gas. Using coated Hookers, Offy intake, 500 Eldebrock. Armstrong Machine here in Nova Scotia will do the block work, balance & assembly, I'm hoping to get them to tune it on their dyno so I will only have small adjustments from there. I'm currently installing an 8.75 with 3:91's & True track, an 833 four speed & pistol grip in my 70 Duster while the engine gets done. Regards Derek

hi derek,armstrong`s are good, most of the big boy over here use there services, were are you located? if i may suggest one thing, to boost compression take all the extra off the deck and leave the combustion chamber as large as possible, i think it help you make more power when all the vol is in the chamber and not down in the bore.

Is this going to be a street car? I'd be interested in seeing it when it's done. Was wondering if Armstrongs would do a slant. Keep us posted.
