Thanks for the help ~getting the numbers off the engine I have in my 1965 A100. I will send in some pictures soon!

I'm currently going through the fuel system. Replacing the pump-lines-filters etc. When I dropped the fuel tank yesterday, I realized it had a half tank of gas it. Probably been in there since it was last registered in 1996. The tank appears to be in good condition. But the rubber fuel line at the tank was packed full of crud(normal?). I'm also wondering how to treat the tank at this point. *Should I take it to a radiator shop for hot tanking it or just to a car wash-spray it out?* I don't have access to a compressor(blow it out) after the wash. I'd like to change the sending unit too. Is there anyone who makes these for the A100??

This OL GIRL is a blast to work on. Easy as making MAC-N-CHEESE!

One time some kids put sugar in my van tank for fun. I took it out and flushed it with soap and very hot water!

My tank was off a 73 Sportsman van and was very shinny inside after that. If yours has any rust ,maybe hot taking. Then go to POR15.com and get their tank sealer to pickle it.

Check on eBay for new units.

I'd suggest you inspect & probably replace your fuel sock inside the tank - it's probably in poor shape and I've always seen them get very brittle. While you've got the sender out, take a flashlight and look inside. Generally, I've been surprised how clean the tanks appear after so many years.

My club sent a tank off to be cleaned professionally, and we were quite disappointed with the results. The last time I cleaned a tank I used some water-based stuff from J.C.Whitney specified for use before pouring in a very white latex paint-like substance that was supposed to seal leaks.

The tank started leaking again in less than a year, but the tank did look very clean before I added the white stuff. Also, I rinsed the tank w/ acetone to get any water out.

If you can't replace the tank, I've heard of outfits that dip your tank into liquid polyethelene as a permanent fix - if you can find them, they'll do the cleaning.

hey Buzzin. .. .
are u signed up in Yahoo?
if so, go to the Groups section and search for "Doge A100"
it's a pretty big group. there's a guy named George that sells repop tank sender units. they also have been showing up on Ebay.

there are a few guys that worked on the line when they built these great old trucks. u'll find answers, or leads to all your questions over there.

i've got a '68 A108 window van. tonite i pulled the manifolds off to do the super six up grade.

if u have an A with a slant, this forum, and the yahoo group could very well be all the resources u ever need.
