| Post subject: | gas tank sealant |
Recently had my carb (BBD) rebuilt and Savas Tuning informed me they found rust and varnish deposits inside my carburetor. I want to pull my gas tank and clean and reseal it. I have seen some products in catalogs like Whitney. What would you all recommend? |

I'd use one of the kits from POR-15, EASTWOOD, or some other source. Get one that includes some kind of cleaner and/or etcher, and follow directions. It's especially important to clean the tank out as well as you can without damaging anything. Also, don't forget to check the pad, straps, and mounting hardware. Replace the inlet sock, sender gasket, and filler grommet while you're in there. And NO SMOKING!
