http://tinyurl.com/328c2r Current location as pictured.

As I am planning to install the Clifford shorty headers I realize that I will have to install a new O2 bung for the sensor. Currently mine senses both the front 3 and the rear 3 cylinders. After the install the nearest all 6 clyinder sensing location will be back at the trans cross member Y-Pipe.
My A/F ratio system is a heated type so it would work back there, but it would involve a rewire/redesign of the current system and put the "computer" under the car. Would only sensing one "bank" be OK and if so which one to sense?

One bank is fine....put the bung in the header collector.

If yer worried ....put a bung in each collector....you can always switch to the other bung for more tuning. A wealthy guy like you might put a sensor in each bung.....then just hook up to which ever one you want.

You say that with a tone of disgust. I am just trying to jump start the economy. Just doing my part.

It should be fine back at the crossmember as long as the exhaust does not have much backpressure.

As far as putting it inthe collertor that will work also, But I would want it back a few inches from the collector myself with the Clifford headers because they are so short. According to most WBO2 info you need to be about 3 feet back from the head or it will over heat ( which kills sensors).

I would probably just put back at the crossmember myself even if you did have to rewire. The computor ( I guess this is the module for the inovate WBO2 your talking about) can handle being back under the car with no problem. Or you could run the wiring under the carpet & seat and bring it through the floor board at the pipe where needed ( the factory did it this way on a lot of cars).

The wideband Bren has mentioned in past posts is the msd setup - which appears to be an msd gauge with innovate motorsports lc1 and the lsu4.2 sensor.

First - you do NOT want to put that sensor in exhaust stream for longer then a few minutes without it hooked up - the heater in the sensor (controlled by the lc-1) self cleans the sensor, and without it you will kill the sensor in short order. Wasn't meant to run like that - if you want to run one sensor per bank you need one controller per sensor to keep it powered up - then switch the gauge between the output of the controllers. Unpowered narrowband isn't a problem, but for wideband, or at least that particular sensor, its a no-no.

The LC-1 is sealed and made to live underneath a car. Thats not a problem.

Putting sensor in collector should be ok but you need some form of heatsinking. Either use the snazzy innovate hbx-1 heatsink, a tall bung, or standard bung + homemade heatsink in order from most to least preferred. The LC-1 manual details a heatsink howto.

I did some digging a while ago on this. Right now my sensor is on the pipe after where the two leading from the headers join, and I want to put it in a collector for a more optimal angle. I have an hbx-1 and bung waiting for the header but I've been tied up with other "projects" on the car.
