Yes, lots...but first we need to know what you consider "cheap", what you've already done, what kind of vehicle this engine is in, etc.

Well, the first thing to do is get the books described in this thread. Next comes a good, careful tune-up. Tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this thread; you'll also want to follow the valve adjustment procedure and maybe do the Fuel line mod. After that, if you find yourself with some money, you may want to convert to electronic ignition, perhaps with the HEI upgrade. From there (increasing in cost/complexity) comes a 2bbl carb and intake swap...

Some ideas you might consider:

1. Valve adjustment
2. Gas line mod for better starting
3. Remove any excess pollution control if legal in your town.
4. Electronic ignition, MOPAR or HEI
5. Recurve distributor
6. 2.25" exhaust and free flowing muffler
7. Drop the nose, P215 in the front P235's out back, less wind resistance.
8. Cold air intake, using ram air from outside the engine compartment
9. Upgrade to a Super Six

I am sure the guys will give lots of ideas! :D

Tune up the car, make it nice. Don't dump a lot of money into the slant yet. For two reasons, one you don't have it, two your a teen and you want performance that's a big car and it's a great candidate for a clone or cool car by itself. That means it's worth more to make it look nice and shove a v8 in it. I know some people are cringing from hearing this, but I'm 20 and it wasn't that long ago I went through this with my Duster. What stopped me was Paps and the fact it was more important for wheels and paint than speed at the time.
At the moment spend the time to go though the tune-ups, make it a nice runner. For speed and performance don't forget about the other upgrades past the engine that will make you go fast. Gears and suspension are a good area to spend money on which will stay with the car no matter what engine you put in.

i have a 440 bored .030 over with dual 4 barrels but it doesnt run on pump gas... so im waiting till i get a good payn job before i drop it in there.
i have already made the car an a12 roadrunner clone (minus the 440 6 pack)
but i just love the slant 6.
i get more attention at car shows with the slant 6 then the six pack cars do.
i know people hate the fact i made it a clone.
but ive always wanted a 69 roadrunner but i couldnt afford one. so i did the next best thing a bought a 2dr satellite and made me a roadrunner.
one reason i would like to build the slant 6 is bragging rights.
6 cylinders in a 4000 pound car out running v8 camaros and mustangs.
all you see at the dragstrips around here are camaros and fox body mustangs. im not raggin on any of them bc i love old cars. i also have a 65mustang. but the slant six motor its self gets more attention then my car its self. most people cant even believe its actually on a 30degree slant.

OK, now I understand your signature. Does your Satellite really weight 4000 lbs? I'm somewhat unhappy my '67 Valiant is so close to 3000 lbs and will end up on the high side of 3k lbs once the 8 3/4 and 4-speed go in.

Turbocharging the slant is probably your best bet for a fast street car, but it's not going to be cheap. Unless you're getting two small turbochargers for free I'd stick with one turbo and go with EFI to gain driveability and power. Turbos and carbs can work together, but EFI works much better under the wide dynamic range of a high boost engine. Whatever you do I would not build something that won't run on pump gas. If you do I predict the car won't get driven much and what fun is that?

Well, good luck with the project than. I fully believe it's fine to have a teenager make a Satelitte into a clone. The only metion about the v8 was I was under the impression you were really monetarily strained. If you already have a 440 than it sounds like you got it under control. The only thing about running a turbo slant is yeah it's cool, but over the last 6 months I've heard lot's of guys want to do it, and all but one that I've stayed in somewhat contact with that has done it (Sam Powell), second you have a big car. The one big benefit is light body, smaller engine, lot's of boost. In my humble opinion if you got a full size car you might as well try to push the big numbers... but keep us updated should be a cool ride either way.

alright thanks yall...
yea i think my car weighs around 3600-3800lbs...its a tank.
but i have a single t3 turbo set up already with holly 500cfm 2 barrel adapted to it.
the only problem i am really having with that right now is find some one who can weld alluminum. to make the custom intake.
i know tunning it will become another problem once i get the turbo set up and everything else.

and i def want to be able to drive it... bc ive been workn on the car for 2 years now and this is my last year in high school and off to college and i want to take it with me. maybe after college ill throw the 440 in it slap a six pack intake on it and sell it as a clone... but right now i have no intention on selling the car so i dont care how much its valued at.
