I always thought that this latest converter wasn't a good match. Drove the car to Deland FL, about 1 hr north of me in Orlando, and had FTI take a look. He foot braked the car, asked questions about gear ratio, looked at the dyno sheets from the latest pulls. I told him about the plans to change the rear gear back to 3.55 and the header exhaust plans and NO slicks. Basicly what I have, converter wize, is wrong. He believes that I have something close to a 4200 -4500 stall converter in there now. "You should not beable to foot brake a 3200 stall converter to 3500."
He would have reworked mine for about half the cost of a new one, but that requires the car to be down for a few days. I ordered another one. I figure I could sell this one to someone needing that much stall.
The converter he plans to build is a 3200 stall that should foot brake around 2300. I can't remember excatly but the multiplier would be a 2.1??. I really don't remember but its in the 2s.

The FTI converter is done and installed. Havn't really had a chance to put it through it paces, but it feels better in terms of streetablity. I'd like to hit the track before I change the rear gear to see if its faster. If its the same that would be good too because of the better street preformance.

That looks like a nice convertor, not that I can look inside of it to really see whats going on or anything. If its built to work with the combo and matched up good it should be faster, hey wouldnt that be something better drivavbility and faster to .


Maybe I missed a post somewhere, but whats the rest of this story.
"GV" I guess a gear change may be in order.

What are you trying to accomplish with helium? The actual weight difference would be measured in ounces and the stuff is expensive and will have to be replaced frequently because it will osmose through the tires much faster than air or nitrogen.

Well, I feel better now. Some people actually do that and from my reading in the results of a Google search it looks like it was seriously proposed once for aircraft tires.
