Post subject: | Measuring Frame alignment |
I've been reading through my FSM to measure the alignment of my subframe's before installing Sub-Frame connectors. This is on the 1974 Valiant. It tells me to elevate the vehicle then use a plumb bob etc. Is it important where I place the Jackstands to support the car? Depending where I support it, I get sagging of the front sub-frame/K-Member. CJ |

is an old article on the install...I thought I saw another article where they put the jackstands under the front and rear subframe where the crossmember connects (the connectors are to stiffen the body preventing warp and rack while driving, not support the K-member area...I suppose you could put a jack under it to keep the rest of the body from sagging if that's the case...) -D.Idiot |

I saw a couple shots of the connectors themselves, but not the support points. The article doesn't really go into it either. I called Mike, Fopar's son, and he gave me some information. I'm supporting the car at the spindles on the front, and at the rear of the back subframe. All the doors and other stuff work properly. That isn't true when it's sitting on the rear axle. I should be welding here in a couple of hours. So far everything is measuring up fine. ![]() CJ |
