I've got a 72 valiant and have been considering removal of the EC devices. I live in Kentucky where there are virtually no regulations and have been wondering as to pros and cons of doing so.

Unless your '72 is a California car, there's not much of anything under the hood that would be beneficial to remove. The charcoal canister (evaporative emission control system) works only to your benefit, letting you keep and use gasoline that would otherwise be lost to evaporation. The PCV valve and associated hoses keeps your engine cleaner inside than it would be without it. The thermostatic air cleaner saves on gasoline and improves driveability.

You may well want to pick up some or all of the three books described in this thread.

There are some mods that can be made to improve the operation of your engine, such as the fuel line mod, various methods of converting to electronic ignition, recurving the distributor, etc. Probably best to start slow (and get those books).

Welcome on the board!

Hey Steel Drivin' Man,

Welcome aboard. I see you are in Paducah. My folks live in Bardwell 'bout a half hour south.

Cheers,

Chris

Technically I live in Gage, just a hop, skip, and a jump from Bardwell.

It's a small world after all huh?
