It's about $200 for the 20:1 ballnut, and $30 or so for bearings/seals. Easy to do yourself and a nice upgrade.

I was planning to just buy a new 20:1 manual box from Firm Feel

Make sure to call and confirm they still have some, recently I was asking and they said they were out of the 20 and 16:1 ratio stuff...

I usually don't push stuff I have on eBay, but I do have a 20:1 worm and ball assembly on there now. Last I checked you could get the same part from Mancini Racing for $234.95, but my auction is starting at $100 with no reserve.

What's wrong with bidding? It will likely still save significant money over Mancini Racing.

Where would one get the parts to convert a standard ratio manual steering box to a quick ratio? Also how much would one expect to spend?

I was planning to just buy a new 20:1 manual box from Firm Feel until I saw the price (and the fact that I don't have a core to send them), so I decided to try to find a junker manual box and rebuilt it myself.

Just to interject, the 20:1 setup is medium-ratio, with 4½ turns lock-to-lock. The quick-ratio setup is 16:1, with 3½ turns lock-to-lock. And the standard setup is 24:1, with 34¼ turns (OK, it's "only" 5¾ turns) lock-to-lock. I like the 20:1 setup. I can live with the 24:1 setup if no super-twisty roads are involved. The 16:1 setup is a damnuisance to live with unless you always only ever go straight.

That's what happened to me just last week. www.steerandgear.com have them in stock, and they said they would accept power steering boxes WITH the pump and mounting brackets as the core charge for a manual steering box.

The very early a-body cars had 4 1/2 turns standard, but it was a different steering gear; made by Saginaw? I wonder if it is interchangable in the chassis with the later Chrysler-built steering gear, would you have to change the pitman arm too, and if so, what other cars might have used the early steering gear to help locate an interchange. Saginaw is GM, isn't it?

Dart 270, can you recommend a good source? Looks like steer and gear wants about $400 for 20:1 gears, and $35 for seals. Esspensive.
