I gained some experience cutting and welding rocker arms on my hemi head project so I thought I would try it on some stock slant rockers.
I checked a few and they were around 1.47 to 1. By cutting 1/16" gives a 1.55 ratio, cutting 1/8" gives 1.65 ratio. Since they are steel they're easy to weld. You can also compensate for pushrod length when welding. Cheap way to increase rocker ratio.

Will the pushrods clear the head?

They should clear the head, I only cut 1/16" on this rocker. If you go 1/8" there may be some grinding needed.

that adjuster is an interference-fit, and you are cutting and welding that end of the rocker, has this disturbed the clamping force on the adjuster threads?
