When the machinist bored my block the bore bar moved at the very bottom of one of the bores. I am taking it back this week to be checked and he said that if it needs it he will sleeve the cylinder and rebore. I have never had a engine sleeved before and am wondering if I should just get a new block from the junk yard or is will a sleeve hold up just fine.

Go for the sleeve....it will let him out of the jam...and get you what you want. I have sleeved a couple of Chev 6 blocks (in front end accidents the water pump shaft gets shoved through the front cyl making for cheap low mileage motors). The results were excellent.
