Dear All, Today I have bought a Dogde Power Wagon with a slant six engine. No one knows the technical data so I want to learn if I can figure out it from my serial number which is: 76C2252328. Is it 1976 225 cubic inch? Is there a list that I can refer? thanx |

Well, I said "nobody" because even the guy I bought the truck did not know anything about the engine. The papers also did not have any info, it only says the truck model is 1973 but it seems impossible since in 1973 there seems no truck like mine W200. It looks like 1976 or later. When I check the engine plate I understand (guess ![]() Thank you |

Dear Evilsizer, thank you for your efforts, it is one of the most useful data until now. My pickup is D200-W200 type. There it says 140 hp which I hope its true since in the same site 225 engine has various engine powers from 100 to 145. http://www.allpar.com/slant6.html all same compression ratio but different hp (must be the cam??) The only thing is my pickup is 4WD and has 4 speed transmission.

The difference in HP ratings was from different ways of measuring HP. Some where at crank with no accesseories, some were crank with accessories, and some may have been at the rear wheels. All the 225 slants were about the same, with only very modest differences in cam and carb. Emissions hardware choked them down a fair amount, and made them feel like about half their ratings. Spark plug design and size was changed in the late seventies, but this had little, if any effect on the HP. Timing was the biggest culprit in this. Sam |

Some good photos of the truck, engine, and data plate might help. If the block has not been milled, the displacement is stamped here, ![]() between and below #1 and #2. |

Also check on sweptline dot com and dot org for info on the truck itself.I have a 74 w300 powerwagon with 318 so I'm thinking 73 w200 should be a legit model.Body parts are interchangable for a number of years so it might look like a 76,ie grill and trim and still be a 73.I've got 78 doors and box on mine from a 78 d100.That being said you have found THE place for /6 info.I'm no expert on any of this stuff so be careful with any info I pass along ![]() |
