Is there anyone running a Holley 2BBL on thier super six. I have two of them but have never tried one. The Carter seems to work fine for me, but I wonder if the Holley would work better still. I think jetting would be easier too.

There have been plenty of Holley 2280s used on Super Sixes; Holley marketed several different 2280s as aftermarket replacements for the BBD. Both are good carb designs; which one will work better for you is largely down to which particular carb is in better condition (i.e., a BBD in good condition is better than a 2280 in poor condition, but a 2280 in good condition is better than a BBD in poor condition).

We might first ask 'which' holley 2 barrel, do you have?

I have several to choose from 2280, 2300,2305, 2145, 2210?

If 2280 then Dan's advice is very sound.. if they are the 2210/2245 from a LA/B engine... then I would pass... 2300 would work with some mods and tuning...

Good point, DI.

Now, I have a brand-new Holley 2bbl in my collection that's something of a mystery. It's a #2209, originally offered by Holley as an aftermarket replacement for the Carter BBD and Stromberg WW carbs on '62-'68 318s. I doubt if I'll ever get around to trying it, and will probably offer it for sale the next time it occurs to me to do so. But I know nothing about it!
