I pulled apart beater valiant's original block and found the crank timing gear was stamped with a DD CID... and thought 'Wow!' Doc Dodge was here! LOL... :wink:

I also found something that I didn't like... the pics aren't as good (no macro function...).. but it looks like my flywheel has a lot of microcracks in the pressure plate/disc region...

My flywheel has those cracks....gives a better grip I sez....that is a lot of cracks though......

"Dodge-Plymouth-Chrysler-DeSoto".

It's a logo that appeared on many, many Chrysler parts well after DeSoto had disappeared. There is some speculation that the extended stem of the P is supposed to be an "I" for "Imperial", and maybe that's true, but I learned it as "DPCD", have never seen a variant that made any effort to stylise the P-stem to make it clear it's a separate letter I, and if I'm not mistaken the logo was introduced before there was an Imperial division per se. Sometimes people misread the logo as "DDCC" for "Dodge Division Chrysler Corporation", but that's definitely not right.
