My duster has a floating feeling like a cadillac. Whats the ride supposed to feel like on these cars?

mine never felt like that, i think someone replaced the shocks then. my 76 ride was hard... then after getting a front end rebuild kit, turns out it was rebuilt. the own before just didnt do it right. i think the shocks on mine are KYB not to sure, have had to look in a long time. imma give the car a look over on the weekend to grab PN's off of parts.

When I got the swinger it felt like yours. It had the weakest torsion bars and beat shocks. I upgraded to the 318 bars (still thin, but not the thinnest) and kyb shocks and the ride firmed up a lot. It is still comfy, it just lost that floating feeling. I would do just the shocks and see what you think- kyb's are around 25 bux apiece I think. The Swinger is still no corner carver, but it rides like a more modern car than it is- its no boat.

My demon came with one broken bar on the right so I limped it for a while with one 340 bar on the left and a takeoff from the swinger on the right. Predictably dips on the highway induced a circular motion, even with new shocks. I went for it since I have the swinger for comfort and bought the Just Suspension 1" torsion bars. The ride is great- very little body roll and firm feeling. Bumps are not hard like I expected. The only problem is on long trips the smaller vibes can get annoying if the pavement isn't the best.

That's my story- good luck with the car.

Kevin

loose steering shaft and box can give you the swayingness if its only minor. but a frontend rebuild can make a huge diff in freeway ride quality
