generally speaking, idle screw are brass and have a coil spring between carb base and screw head. Also, the head tends to be knurled. |

Stock 1 barrel. That's the screw I thought it was. Do I turn it out or in to lean it out? |

In(clockwise) to cut off the fuel to te idle circuit... (the only 'out' is on mid 70's to 80's reverse idle screw Holley carbs found on smog bogger V-8's...)-D.Idiot |

What you want to do is turn it until it smooths out and idles the fastest. This could be in or out that it needs. You might want to make sure your choke is not trying to stay closed on you and that you have no vacuum leaks. Also make the ajustment with the engine hot. What makes you think it rich ? Jess |

Thanks guys. I think its too rich because I had it idling on a trailer, and afterwards, the trailer right behind the exhaust was real black. |
