I have a Super Six Intake Manifold. Somewhere along the way I inherited an ADAPTOR to put a Holley 2bbl onto a carter type intake. (Probably during one of my 318 projects) In any case, which carb would you use on this build up the BBD, Holley 350 or 500 with my intake: 225 bored .030 Oversize valves (the MP size, which escapes me for the moment) Pocket Ported heads Gasket matched and blended ports on head and intake True 2" dual exhaust (IE, front three to one 2" pipe, back three to other) 3.55 rear end ratio 904 Auto tranny Erson 270 cam (thanks to the group buy!) Block decked .100 Head milled .020 What say you? sb |

I have had good results with the Holley two barrels on a SS intake. The 500 is a tad on the big side for a stock engine but with your setup it should work good. I am running a Motorcraft 2150 carb right now which is the Ford version of the Holley 500. It does not flow as much but it works better. They came with Annular venture and if you get the one for the later year setup they have a ajustable highspeed air bleed system that is sweat. They come in different venture sizes and th eone I am running has the 1.21 size. They make a 1.43 size but I havnt found one of them yet. Specs show the one I am running has 351cfm air flow. These came on the alot of the mid 70,s and early 80's ford truck with the 400m engine. the later years (80 & 81) has the ajustable highspeed air bleed system. Plus there cheaper than the Holley 500 if you go get them at the junkyard. Any of them will make more power than the BBD and you can look at the side of them to see venture size. Right under the accelerator pump arm it is stamped as to which size venture they have, they come from 1.08 up to 1.43. The 1.08 is what you find on most 302 and 6 cyl engines, get one off the 400 engine setups and it should be the big one. I think the Jeep 360;s may have had the big size also ( not 100% sure on that though). With the annular booster in the motorcraft carbs it gave great throttle response and my fuel milage is best its been, plus the car leaves the line better. With a built engine if I had a Holley 500 I would run it instead, but only if I was turning over 6000rpm. One thing I really like about the Motorcraft carb is after I got it jetted to give good WOT A/F ratio it still gave great lean cruize without me having to do anything. Jess |

I run a Holley 350, the new one part number 7448, search on Jegs. It works great, the super six throttle linkage and kickdown even work on it. |

i think i was gonna do the holley back in the day on my supersix setup, i remmber it was hard to find an aircleaner that would let the hood close, so i went bbd |

For the Holley 350 all you need is one of the stock low-profile air cleaners for 4bbl...they are plentiful. Mine is an orange 340 one, works and fits perfect. I sand blasted it and painted it black. You will only run into trouble if you use one of the thick 4bbl ones (which I think are a little more common) |

You must have a pre-67 car, the hood closes fine on the 'fat' A-bodies with that combo (even the K&N open element pietin that the bottom plate bell 'up' for better air flow, than offset down like the Mr. Gasket models...)...If you check into my old posts about 'Beyond the super six' and now the 'part 2' version you'll get some ideas of where to go... -D.Idiot |

Yea air cleaner is no problem, a drop bottom 14" cleaner is available at any of the parts stores that will work. Just look at the one bren67Cuda has on his, I went and got the same thing at the local store and it went right on the Holley two barrel with super six intake. This is on a 68 Cuda though and I am not sure about early A body (66 back) but I have about one inch of clearance easy with the setup. Jess |

mine is a 65 Barracuda. I'm guessing that if any car is gonna' be a tight fit, that car would be mine. 4" drop base or bbd. I guess I could get the holley and put it on my tow truck if it didn't fit my barracuda and use the bbd off the truck! sb |

If you want I could get you a exact measurment of my Holley setup from the top of the air cleaner to the manifold flange. This would also include my adaptor which is made not store bought, it would be thicker than the store bought adaptor so that would leave extra room on the measurments. Jess |
