| Post subject: | No power to coil/ No Spark |
I Just got my truck on Saturday from a friend, its a 84 D150 w/ a Slant 6... My problem is that i have no spark/ no power to coil. Could anyone please help me, because I am stumped, as are the other half a dozen people that have looked at it. Thanks for your help

I'm not sure about the '84, but check to see if there is a firewall resistor. If there is, it may be bad. Look for a white "block" about 1.5" x 2.5" on the firewall. Also try following the wires back from the electronic ignition unit. PS. You will need to register to post here again. |

check the bulkconnector at the firewall. i had to jump my coil for about a week till i cleaned it out |

If it isn't the aforementioned, check the connector at the steering column to the switch. I've seen them overheat and the plastic soften, allowing the pin to fail to make contact. Pushing in on the wire was enough to get it going again until it could be properly repaired. |
