Post subject:  Rad "burping" coolant

Lately my rad has been burping coolant when I stop. My thoughts are; get a new T-stat and rad cap. My question is, what type of rad cap? What T-stat? The rad cap is a replacement (before I got the dart) it says 16lb on it. The car is a 1970 Dart theh engine is out of a '73 dart, but it's the original radiator. As a side note, The heater core has been recently replaced (last summer, before the engine swap) but it doesn't seem to blow as hot as it did last winter.... Of course I'm going from memory on that one. Oh, the rad is a non-recovery type with a hose running from just below the cap and through the rad support.

Thanks in advance,

Nat

Make sure you arent over filling your rad. There should be a metal flap inside the tank when you look in the filler opening. You are not supposed to fill it above that flap. If you fill it to the neck it has nowhere to expand when it heats up so it burps out.

Fot the cap and thermostat, you should be able to got to AutoZone, Kragen, etc, and they'll find the one you need.
