Post subject:  Best tune for stock /6 what Vac can to use

This topic was spawned from some problems I've been having with fuel mixture, timing, and heat issues. I have determined that my vacuum advance can is shot.
I've seen a lot of recommendations for everything from mild to wild builds. My question is what are the best settings for a stock /6? What Vac can should I use
Here are the specs:
73 stock 225 Duster with factory A/C and a super six Carter BBD from a 78 volare
8* BTDC initial timing
904 trans with 7 1/4 rear with 215/65/15 tires
Autolite 985 plugs
EGR bypassed
OSAC bypassed
vacuum amplifier removed but I still have it. ( I still have the vac pod for the A/C hooked up.

The requirements:
Daily driver.
Decent pep and gas mileage. Most of my driving is around town but once every couple of months the duster will see 2 hrs of solid hwy time.

I have bypassed most of the vacuum actuated stuff for the sake of troubleshooting but I'm not opposed to hooking it back up for performance or mileage.

I'd like to see stuff like " leave the egr disconnected for performance or connect it for mileage" kind of stuff comparisons.

Install a new vaccuum advance unit into the distributor and hook it directly to the ported vacuum "bib" on the carb.
Test drive and "smile".... because replacing that part with really help performance and drivability.

While you have the distributor out, look at the advance weights and make sure they move freely when you twist the rotor on the distributor's shaft. A few drops of oil on the advance weight pivit points is a good idea.

I ordered the vac pod at lunch but it wont be in until tomorrow and wont be installed until this weekend. I can't believe I overlooked the advance can when I was tracking down the vacuum leaks, but I guess I had so many others I forgot about it. I'm guessing it will run a lot better without the retarded timing and a vacuum leak.
