Vacuum reservoir for your A/C system. It holds vacuum to operate the heater and A/C mode doors and the heater water control valve even if you're headed up a hill with your foot on the floor (zero manifold vacuum). It has a check valve so that manifold vacuum will evacuate the reservoir, but even if manifold vacuum drops to zero, the reservoir will not bleed back to atmospheric pressure. Have you got your factory service manual yet?
