Just taking a poll here, what kind of aftermarket balancer is everyone using? I'm probably going to get one this winter, so I'm shopping for suggestions. Thanks! Dennis

I am using the Fisher Damper. I shortened the hub about 3/4" so it tucks up to the T-cover. I run a flat pulley on the front to drive my w.pump & alturnator.

I am using a Fluidampr off a 440 for my race car. Also use the front crankshaft seal from the big block. Had to make the pulley to drive the oil pump. Another racer out here uses a ATI damper
also from a big block. Both work fine for racing at RPM's around 6000. The only thing I noticed is that the fluid damper you must warm up the engine to get the oil warm in the damper before it works correctly.

Dennis
Did you forget to use the search function? I use a fisher but some do use a big block one.

Do have to do any kind of special machining to big block dampers to make them fit and/or function? Darrin

Just put the new seal in,bolt a pulley on and adjust your spacing for the alternator/water pump. The new damper (both types) are thicker than the stock unit. But well worth the effort.

Thanks for the info! It will definately make shopping alot easier. Does it need to be from any specific year or size of big block? Darrin

Darrin it will fit a early 383-426-440 that is internally balanced. Fluidampr only lists two for the mopar line. The small block and big block.
