Just taking a poll here, what kind of aftermarket balancer is everyone using? I'm probably going to get one this winter, so I'm shopping for suggestions. Thanks! Dennis slantzilla@excite.com |

Dennis I am using the Fisher Damper. I shortened the hub about 3/4" so it tucks up to the T-cover. I run a flat pulley on the front to drive my w.pump & alturnator. DD |

Dennis I am using a Fluidampr off a 440 for my race car. Also use the front crankshaft seal from the big block. Had to make the pulley to drive the oil pump. Another racer out here uses a ATI damper also from a big block. Both work fine for racing at RPM's around 6000. The only thing I noticed is that the fluid damper you must warm up the engine to get the oil warm in the damper before it works correctly. damuel@kalama.com |

Dennis Did you forget to use the search function? I use a fisher but some do use a big block one. Will Quote:

Do have to do any kind of special machining to big block dampers to make them fit and/or function? Darrin dartman225@webtv.net |

Darrin Just put the new seal in,bolt a pulley on and adjust your spacing for the alternator/water pump. The new damper (both types) are thicker than the stock unit. But well worth the effort. damuel@kalama.com |

Thanks for the info! It will definately make shopping alot easier. Does it need to be from any specific year or size of big block? Darrin dartman225@webtv.net |

The small block and big block. damuel@kalama.com |
