I just got my head off and noticed that the top alternator bracket bolt hole goes all the way through the block. I am assuming that this is not normal.

What is the best way to seal this off so it doesn't leak oil? Would just some thread sealer in the bolt be good enough? Or should it be welded? I don't weld, so I would have to take the block to somebody if that is the case.

I have a couple blocks that both go through IIRC.

I converted my Duster to driver's side alternator and left those bolts out. At 5500 a lot of oil blows out, and I had a hell of a time tracking it down.

I dab a little RTV on the threads of the bolt to be sure oil does not seep out.
